Thoughts I've had lately – in no particular order...
How do we navigate through life?
Who do the artists I look up to look up to?
At some point, we have to realize that there's nothing we can't do, just things we choose not to give our time to.
What was 2019 like? How can we feel like that again?
Some would say the contemporary art market is the most secure place to put your money. Some would say it's the worst. Just depends on who you ask. Does this mean that due to its subjectivity contemporary art means nothing unless we bestow value on it?
What is value?
I need to go grocery shopping
I love my old car. I also love the feeling it sometimes gives me feel whenever I pull up next to someone with a nicer car.
I desperately need to go grocery shopping
I used to think that imitation was frustrating as a child. People who copied me were my enemy. As I got older, I was taught that imitation was supposed to flatter me - but I secretly disagreed until age 19.
If I am my worst critic, shouldn't it be easier to make something that pleases the inner critic inside of me?
I like to think of myself as simple but sometimes I feel extremely high maintenance. The idea of seeing ourselves as plain, simple, and happy with where we’re at should be celebrated more. We’re all too high maintenance.
I interrupt too much
I should take a 48-hour vow of silence once a month
Having a significant other is one of the biggest blessings that life bestows upon us. Having someone to confide in is good. But having someone to call you out is great.
How much does it cost to print a hardcover book? Not a novel with that cheap paper that smells like a library...the nice ones with the semi-gloss finish that all of the TASCHEN coffee table books are printed on
How much of my data is viewed without my consent?
I fear that my generation and others that follow mine are becoming obsessed with overindulgence and psycho-analyzation. It seems that no one is content with anything anymore, and this will inevitably pull us further and further away from our true selves.
I had a silver metallic sharpie that once lasted me five years
Some of the art I made in 2018 and discarded is much better than some of the art I now make.
I'm beginning to realize that I am afraid of not knowing things.
Why am I so tired lately?
I wonder if there's a chair design that has never been done before
I haven't felt much in the past five days
Every time I set a book out to display it on the table in my room the sunlight warps the cover. I always regret setting nice books on the table when I realize they've been warped - but I continue to set new ones out every few months. Maybe one day all of my books will have a slightly warped cover and all lean in the same direction when put on the shelf.
Every time I try to write something profound, it falls flat. But every time I jot down a random thought I have while walking down the street it blows me away when I revisit it.
I look up to some of my friends so much more than they will ever know for reasons they would never guess
My ideas are the best because they are my own.
