There aren’t many things that I continually seek out and revisit over and over again for inspiration. However, over the course of the last 3 years, I’ve found myself repeatedly seeking influence from 000df5 – the ‘perfect blue.’ For those unfamiliar, 000df5 is a HEX code for color. HEX code is a hexadecimal way to define a color in RGB format by combining three values – the amount of red, green and blue within a shade of color.
I’ve granted 000df5 several names that are all fitting based on how it’s affected me – perfect blue, pure blue, glory blue, electric blue.
My initial discovery of pure blue was somewhere between late 2019 and early 2020 when I made a graphic not long after meeting the love of my life –
‘PU•RI•TY’ – 2019/2020
Selecting this blue was a perfunctory affair done with little to no attention to detail. I knew that I needed a blue that represented how I felt when I feel my best –
How I feel when I stand in direct sunlight.
What it’s like to observe a beam of light that others pass by.
How my soul feels when I’m surrounded by those I love.
What it’s like to wake up early enough to hear white noise.
How it feels to be near to God.
How it feels to stand in a large space surrounded by art.
I chose 000df5 and didn’t revisit it for another year. But after realizing that no blue could stir up the same feelings like electric blue could – I began a process of searching for the best blue to be positive that 000df5 was truly it for me.
